Almost 2 years ago we collaborated with X-Rite and their ColorChecker Passport Video. Back then we used the ColorChecker to calibrate a camera. Using the reference colors and a vector-scope we where able to adjust the matrix inside of a Sony FS7 and record a clean image.
Today we’re taking the X-Rite ColorChecker to the post-production and fix the white-balance plus tint using Adobe Premiere Pro’s Lumetri.

A Color Checker is obviously not a tool for everyone. If you’re a beginner filmmaker, there’s of course better gear to invest in first. But once you’re getting into the field of multi-camera, commercial projects or fictional films; the X-Rite ColorChecker Video could be really useful.
In a multi-camera setup such a color checker could helps match the colors of each camera, both inside of the camera (depending on the option your model has) or in post-production.
Just like holding that clapper up before each shot, you could hold a color checker up. More information about the different possibilities can be found on the X-Rite website.
