Adobe is killing it
If you are an experienced content creator the changes of you dabbling in 3D are huge. Its a great way to expand your skillset and knowledge to then again apply to your content. And there might even be a ton of beginners who are just too scared to even start with 3D.
Honestly learning 3D is scary, you need to learn how to model, create materials, light a scene, use a camera and so on. And even though there are a ton of shortcuts for all of this the program itself is still intimidating.
BUT Adobe has our back! In their beta version of After Effects they released a brand new feature to get started with 3D. From now on you can import 3d files like .obj and .fbx! Making it so there is no need for external 3D software or a plugin in After Effects.

How 3D works in After Effects
Now bear in mind that this is the first time we see this feature so don’t expect it to be the new Blender. Currently the beta version allows you to import 3D files and change its transform properties. We can add lights to our 3d scene to light up the objects.
Currently there isn’t a feature to change materials or even switch colors, so well have to wait for that. But this is definitely a big step forward for After Effects!
