You probably already know that I’m a huge fan of superheroes. Doesn’t matter to which universe they belong, I just get inspired by the story lines and powers of superheroes. So that’s why I convinced Yannick to do another superhero effect!
This week our effect is inspired by both Mr Fantastic (from Marvel) and Elongated Man/Plastic Man (from DC. Now what all of these characters have in common is the fact that they can extend their bodies, like their arms for example. That gave us the idea to create a tutorial on how to extend your arms with Adobe After Effects.
I think everybody has heard of the Fantastic Four by now, so of course they also know Reed Richards AKA Mr Fantastic, the leader of the Fantastic Four. Do you know that he is considered as one of the most intelligent beings on the planet? He can not only extend his body, he can also reshape it into different forms, making himself super thin. That way he can slide himself underneath a door or through a keyhole. Since he’s also made of rubber, he can withstand electricity.
His first appearance was in the 1967 animated series of the Fantastic 4. He later appeared in the first Fantastic Four live action movie, which was made in 1994. I didn’t even know there was a Fantastic Four movie back then! And of course the live action movie from 2005 staring the beautiful Jessica Alba. The latest appearance was in the live action reboot in 2015 and that is by far the worst portrayal of the Fantastic Four in my opinion.
