The Weirdest Teleportation Effect we’ve ever done! (AE Tutorial)

Learn how to recreate the teleportation effect from Everything Everywhere All at Once in this Adobe After Effects Tutorial.

Weirdest VFX of 2022

Maybe you haven’t seen the movie yet but you definitely have seen scene and images pass by, Everything Everywhere All at Once. A great movie about a woman using the multiverse to fight bad guys. Its super crazy and random like they even have a bagel sucking in people. If that’s isn’t a cool movie I don’t know what is. So that’s exactly why we decided to recreate that effect for this weeks CopyCat.

Breakdowns are Helpful

Most of the time we watch an effect over and over to figure out what they did, especially when its a more complex one with different kind of layers. Just like this effect, there so much going on its hard to focus on one thing at a time. Luckily they sometimes post these breakdown videos showing all the different layers they used to achieve the effect. Making it easier to recreate.

Creating this effect is actually quite easy. All you have to do is rotoscope out the parts of your body that you want to distort. Once done we can use various distortion effects like cc smear to stretch out the face. To top it off we can add motionblur, rgb split and extra effects to really make it look stretched and trippy.
