Cameras, lenses & Accessories

We have a bunch of cameras that we work with every week to create the best possible result for our videos. When choosing a camera, make sure that it fits your needs. We always want to provide the best quality so we always look for cameras that shoot at least 4K footage (preferably log footage) and slow motion. High bitrate shots are always a good thing to have, especially when you shoot a lot of green screen stuff.

Cameras

Panasonic Lumix GH5 Body

This is a great camera for the all-around film maker. It can shoot 4K and slow motion and is very light weight. It shoots 10bit log footage which is great for shooting green screen shots. The only bad side about this is the fact that it doesn’t have a full frame sensor.

Sony Alpha a6500

This is a very small Mirrorless camera, perfect for your vlogs! You can literally hold this for days, while you record your adventures! And this all in 4K! Just like the GH5 it doesn’t have a full frame sensor so keep that in mind when choosing your lenses.

Sony Alpha a7R III

This is a great camera for both video and photo projects. It shoots 4K and slow motion in s-log footage. The only bad thing is the fact that it shoots 8bit which makes it a bit harder to color grade and it can only shoot slow motion in 1080p.

RED Gemini 5K

This is our most expensive camera in the studio. It shoots RAW REDlog footage up to 5K and it shoots slow motion up to 300fps in 2K. The shots look fantastic but it isn’t the best camera to use for traveling because of it’s weight and storage size.

Canon C200

This is our newest asset in the studio, we mainly use it to shoot our talking head videos. It shoots up to 4K in c-log. It’s a great camera and is not that heavy as you may think.

GoPro Hero5 Session

These GoPro’s are ideal for sport or water projects. The bad side is that you can’t see what you are filming unless if you use the app and the quality isn’t great. GoPro doesn’t make these anymore. They have newer GoPro’s on the market now.

As mentioned before, it all depends on your needs. If you travel a lot you want to have a camera that is very light but provides great quality shots. This can even be just a GoPro if that’s all you need. If you are someone that doesn’t travel a lot and want to shoot high-end content you can look at one of the more expensive camera’s that are a bit heavier. If you combine video projects with photo projects it’s always good to have a camera that can also shoot photos with a decent amount of MegaPixels. Keep in mind that each camera has a certain lens mount, so not every lens will fit on every camera.

Lenses

Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 (Nikon Mount)

Personally the best lens we ever had!! Just SUPER, nothing more to say about it! A must have lens for people who shoots on Nikon mounts.

Sony 16-35mm F2.8

This is the Sony equivalent of the sigma 18-35 that we use. It’s great and sharp lens for Sony cameras.

Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 (Nikon Mount)

Just like the Sigma 18-35 this lens is really good, especially for the more teleshots with a nice bokeh. A must have for Nikon mount cameras.

Sony 24-70mm F4.0

A great and sharp lens for the Sony cameras, only negative side about this camera is the fact that it doesn’t have a manual focus option.

Metabones Speed Booster Adapter

Because the Lumix GH5 has a micro 4/3 mount and we use Nikon lenses. We needed an adapter. This also converts other camera mounts.

Sony 10-18mm F4.0

A great wide angle lens for APS-C sensor cameras, just like the Sony Alpha a6500.

Fun fact: A lot of people think that it’s better to have a super good camera with crappy lenses but that isn’t correct. You can have a lot better footage on a low quality camera when you combine it with great lenses. Of course, when you have a good camera and great lenses the result will be the best.

Microphones

Shooting a film is much more than just video footage, to step up the quality of your project you need high quality audio. These are some of the microphones that we always use in our studio when shooting projects. And we definitely recommend using these while shooting your projects. They are low budget, yet high quality!

Rode Videomic Pro+

A great all-around microphone to mount on your DSLR or mirrorless camera. It has a great shock mount, an integrated foam windscreen, high pass filters and three level controls.

Deity V-Mic D3 Pro

The Deity V-mic D3 is a great microphone and a good equivalent to the Rode Videomic Pro+. It has internal battery and an automatic stand-by-mode.

Deity V-Mic D3

This microphone is the world’s first microphone with a stepless gain knob. It has an internal battery and has low cut filters. With the rycote shock mount you’re certain of great audio even when moving around.

Sennheiser EW100 G3

This wireless microphone set is ideal for shooting with DSLRs, mirrorless cameras or audio mixers. The audio quality is great.

Saramonic UwMic9 Kit

A great wireless microphone for shooting with DSLRs or mirrorless cameras.

Saramonic SR-PAX2

This is a two-channel audio mixer with preamplifier and phantom power. It’s great to record the wireless mic through XLR, but it can also record mirrorless cameras with a microphone jack.

ND Filters & Matte Box

Many beginner film makers make the mistake of not buying ND filters and changing their shutterspeed while shooting. So my tip: buy an ND filter instead of shooting 1/8000 in harsh sunlight, it will make your footage so much more cinematic and clean. Combining this with a matte box will also help you from unwanted light flares.

Firecrest ND filters

We use these ND filters in combination with a mattebox and it works great. The colors don’t change, not even with our RED camera. So the ideal ND filters.

PolarPro BaseCamp

PolarPro provided us with this BaseCamp and we must admit, it’s great! It’s the ideal way to have a matte box with ND filters and a polarizer for your DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. The combination with RED cameras isn’t great though.

Hoya 82mm Variable Neutral Density (ND) Filter

Please believe me when I say you REALLY need this when filming outside! You want to keep the aperture from your lens wide open, but the sun is to hard. Well this ND filter will help you compensate the brightness from outside with a single twist!

72-82mm Step-Up Ring

Because our Sigma Lens is 72 mm in diameter, we need a step up ring for our ND filter. We went for a 82mm ND filter so that we can adapt multiple size lenses to it. If you ever get a 82mm lens but only have a 72mm ND filter, you can’t use it.

Storage

Shooting a lot of content means having a lot of storage, it’s always nice to have a couple of spare SD cards with a high writing speed and a lot of storage capacity.

Just the right amount of space for every film project you need to do! This card can handle any type of codec or slow-mo footage you throw at it!

SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB UHS-II Class

Ideal for storing 4K footage from DLSR and mirrorless cameras. It can handle any type of codec or slow-mo footage.

Drone

Aerial footage is always a great plus in your project. But keep in mind that you only fly in private zones where you have an approval of the property owner or that you get a license to fly in public places.

DJI Mavic Air

It’s a super lightweight drone, perfect for traveling. But it’s a DJI product, which means super bad support when something is wrong.

PolarPro ND filter set for Mavic Air

These are not mandatory, but you can keep your shutterspeed at a normal rate when using ND filters on your drone.

camera Cage

Having a camera cage has a lot of pros. Your camera is always protected when it falls or when someone accidentally hits it. You can attach extra handles and gear to it which allows you to build a complete custom rig with audio, lights, a monitor, … So you can remain just a one man crew. This also allows you to connect a V-mount Battery, which lasts way longer than the regular camera batteries and it can also power your monitor, microphone or lights.

This is the thinnest HDMI cable in the world. Advantage: super flexibility, so you can tuck it away nicely!

Lancarte V-Mount Battery Pinch

The most annoying thing while filming is when your batteries are depleted. So we found the solution with this backplate, which allows you to mount a V-mount battery to it. And thus powering your camera and Small-HD monitor with it!

Canon LP-E6 Type Dummy Battery

Your monitor needs some juice to work. And this battery dummy will do the trick if you connect it to your backplate with the V-mount. You can buy dummy batteries for almost every battery type. So using these in combination with a V-mount battery is a great way to power all your gear.

Came-TV 2 Channel V-Mount Battery Charger

The charger for your V-mount battery. I recommend getting a dual charger to be future proof. V-mount batteries are used for many things, so you’ll probably end up buying more in the future

Came-TV 160Wh V-Mount Battery

Big battery to power both the camera and the SmallHD monitor. Through the Lanparte V-mount plate, you can connect even more devices such as a small LED panel.

We recommend a 160Wh V-mount battery as they will last almost an entire day.
