5 Easy Cinematography Hacks
I’m glad Jordy is back! If you don’t know where he went… He was sick last Thursday and Friday. So it was my job to keep the Cinecom ship floating, otherwise Lorenzo could drown. But we managed to deliver a video worth of the Cinecom name. However I’m still glad Jordy is back to be our the captain! And of course we sailed at full speed right to the next Creative Tuesday. This weeks creative hacks will go about filmmaking and will help you improve your skills in a simple and fast way.
One tip I really like from today’s video is the dust tip. Here we explain how you can create dust particles from just a paper handkerchief and a rasp. Super simple and effective. You can of course use dust effects packs, which you then overlay in post production. But i’m more of a fan of practical effects, this gives a more realistic feeling. So when you are in need of dust in your shot, just rasp some paper about your lens and poof, dust.
Another tip worth mentioning, is the tip with the Cucoloris. This is a device that lets you cast shadows on your subject to produce patterned illumination. In our video we used a Cucoloris to create the feeling of blinds. But with some handy craftsmanship, you can create all kinds of different shapes and thus different shadows.
