Camera support helps with stabilizing your camera or adding movements to your shots. From tripods, slider and gimbals, this is the camera support gear that we use in our studio.

Having a decent tripod to shoot with is really necessary. You don’t always want to have the shaky or handheld look, especially when doing vfx shots. These are the tripods that we use on a daily basis when shooting our YouTube tutorials.

There are two types of tripods, photo tripods and video tripods. Photo tripods have the option to rotate sideways, for when you want to shoot vertical with your camera. Video tripods are often times heavier and more sturdy and don’t have the option of rotating to shoot vertical.

Benro Aero 7 Tripod

Benro Aero 7 Tripod

A GREAT tripod for starters. It features all the pro functions in a small and lightweight package.

In the future you’ll find yourself using this tripod for on your slider or on the jib, which is why this is a great combination with a heavy duty tripod such as the Sachtler FSB6.

Sachtler System FSB 6

Sachtler System FSB 6

This tripod is not cheap, however I do feel bad not buying this when I started out. A tripod is for life, so make sure to get a good one from the start.

Sachtler is the top brand when it comes down to tripods and I can relate to that now!

Having steady shots doesn’t always mean that you have to shoot from one place on a tripod. A steady moving shot creates more dynamic to your video. These are some of the sliders that we use to get our dynamic shots.

Syrp Magic Carpet PRO

If you’re working with heavier cameras or DSLR’s in a rig, this is one of the better sliders on the market! It’s packed with great features and additional accessories, super sturdy and very lightweight. The biggest thing I like is that you can extend the slider as long as you want.

Konova Camera Slider K5

A simple, but very sturdy camera slider at an affordable price. I’ve had mine for many years and it still rolls smooth! Ideal for DSLR and mirrorless cameras.

Using a gimbal takes your video to another level, you can create even more dynamic with long distance movements that are completely steady. It’s ideal for making shots where you follow someone or something along a distance. Or to create transitions while shooting.

DJI Ronin

The DJI Ronin is the ideal gimbal for both DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and heavier cameras like the RED Gemini 5K or Canon C200.

Unfortunately the DJI Ronin isn’t on the market anymore, they upgraded to the DJI Ronin 2 and the smaller Ronin-S(C).

Zhiyun Weebill-S

The Zhiyun Weebill-S is ideal for smaller/lighter cameras, since it doesn’t weight a lot you can carry it around while traveling.

Cranes / Jibs

A crane, also called jib, is the ideal way of creating an extra dimension to your steady tripod shots. It doesn’t have the exact same effect as a slider but can create cool parallax effects.

iFootage M1-III Mini Crane

A small camera jib that is setup quickly and doesn’t weigh much. It’s designed for DSLR cameras.

As for the counter weights, I suggest to get some fitness weights in a local store.

Edelkrone JibONE

The JibONE is a great crane, especially in combination with the Edelkrone HeadONE, HeadPLUS or double HeadONE combo on it.

It’s all controlled via your smartphone which makes it a really interesting motion controlled jib to have.

Extra gear

iFootage Cobra 2 Strike

This monopod is one of the best for its price I know of. It has many options, extends in a second and is super light weight.

iFootage Komodo K5 Fluid Head

The monopod doesn’t come with a head. If you don’t have a spare one, I recommend the one from iFootage too. A very simple and light weight fluid head.

Benro HI-Hat HH100 AV

This tripod is perfect for you low angle shots and is very sturdy, ready for every situation.

Benro S8 Pro Video Head

This tripod head is a professional video head that we use on the benro Hi-hat. This combined make the perfect heavy duty tripod for those beautiful low angle shots.

Benro 100mm (3.94″) Half Ball Adapter for HH100AV

We use this adapter so we can fit the Benro S8 Pro Video Head in Our Benro Hi-Hat tripod.

Joby Gorillapod with Ballhead

Not mandatory, but it’s nice to have if you want to film yourself (for a vlog). It’s a small tripod which fits perfect in any bag.
