Hologram in After Effects Tutorial – Lil Nas X ‘Panini
Published on

You know at Cinecom we love to mix practical effects and visual effects. In this Copy Cat Friday we do just that! We create a hologram and use practical light to emulate light shining from the hologram. Although holograms seems super futuristic you can already create them in real life! Instead of doing everything in Premiere Pro I want to show you guy a few methods on how to do this all practical. So get your science goggles on and let’s go!
The first one is the fan type holograms. This is a device which has a stick connected to a motor. On this stick you have a lot of leds. You can make it spin and so it will display a hologram.

To build further on this you also have the Hyperion wall, this is a wall that has multiple of these devices and together they can project bigger images.
The second one is the perfect DIY hologram, the smokescreen hologram. Here you have a screen of smoke going up or down. On this you can easly project an image via a projector and create a cool looking Hologram. Perosnally I think this looks really cool since the smoke gives it a extra Sci-Fi touch. Also your actors can interact with the Smoke screen which is a big advantage.

And last but not least. This one is also a DIY Hologram. You have definitly seen this before but you just create a small piramide of plexiglass and put that on your phone. Than just play a video which has the subject you want to project on on each side of the screen and thats it! This thing you can make as big as you want ofcourse

So here are some great ways to create your own real life holograms for your next project!
