Step Through the DR. Strange Portal in this After Effects Tutorial

Adobe After Effects, Dr strange, Marvel, portal

Everyone has been asking for it for a long time, and finally we decided to do it… Oh yes baby, the Dr Strange Portal Effect, in collaboration with Film Learnin. Since I’m such a big fan of Marvel I explained Yannick all about Dr Strange and his portals. I also provided him with behind the scenes footage of how they made this effect in Hollywood. The Dr Strange movie has a lot of different effects, so maybe we can recreate one of the other ones in a Cinebattle or Copycat Friday?
Fun fact: Did you know that there’s also a Dr Strange movie from 1978?
As seen on last weeks Cinebattle, there are 14.000.605 different ways to create the Dr Strange Portal. For this copycat, Yannick used a stock video from Grant from Film Learnin. We build a greenscreen in the studio with a hole in it, which made it easier to create the effect of walking through the portal. The most difficult thing about it was getting the lighting right. After an entire week working on this project, Yannick managed to create a really realistic take on this effect. I already knew that Yannick is a bit strange, but he could be the next Sorcerer Supreme maybe?!
