We created the Nesting Dance from Cache_Bunny in After Effects

Jordy Vandeput 67K views

Learn how to create the Nesting Dance effect inside Adobe After Effects. In this tutorial you'll learn how to use GoPro Reframe, compositing and you'll get some handy tips from Cache_Bunny herself.

Nesting Dolls

The internet is full of creative people constantly blowing others away with their creations. And this week was no different. Yet again Cache_Bunny has created another banger of a video. Will Smith and Jason Derulo even got involved! In this video you can see that both talents go in and out of the frame getting smaller and smaller(Hence the name nesting dance). At the end Jason pulls the camera down and the whole scene seamlessly loops forever.

Are 360 cameras the future?

These days you see more and more people use 360 cameras for different reasons. From Vloggers to Filmmakers, everybody is starting to use it. But lets focus on what we can use it for.

For vfx artists this is an amazing tool if you can use it right. You can easily create fun little effects like we did here in this video. Or go all nuts and create elaborate effects like the nesting dance.

Using a 360° on a tripod vs a normal camera also has its benefits. Adding a tilt or pan with a 360° gives a more realistic movement than it does with a normal camera. And you can also move around the camera without moving itself and always be in frame which you cant with a traditional camera.

For Filmmakers this again is a perfect opportunity to create never seen before shots. Such a small camera can fit through everything and being able to manipulate the position in post is amazing. We also made a video on this topic which you can see right here.

So is 360 the future? Yes and no! Don't worry, it wont replace your traditional camera, its not even close to the footage quality those can provide. Yet I do believe this is a good piece of gear to have in your arsenal to spice things up.
