Color Grading The Joker, The Irishman and Once Upon a time… in Hollywood in Adobe Premiere Pro using Lumetri. In this tutorial video we’re recreating the film look of 3 Oscar nominated films from 2020.

And the winner is… Well we don’t know yet, but holy guacamole, the nominees are definitely worth it. I’ve seen Joker in avant-premiere and it was immediately my favorite movie of 2019. Not only was the acting of Joaquin Phoenix exquisite but the cinematography, score and sound design were exceptionally good in my opinion. Analyzing the movie you will see how much thought they put into each shot. And that’s what makes a movie Oscar worthy.
The Irishman… Boy oh boy, Martin Scorsese never disappoints. And what an amazing cast, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and many more. They are some of the top actors of Hollywood. It’s a shame that the movie wasn’t screened in many cinemas because it is a Netflix release. It’s cool that they also made 4 custom LUTS for the colorgrading of this movie. Each reflects a specific time period. And the de-aging is also done very well, first I was thinking they used the DeepFake method for this, but it turns out they made it completely CGI.

Joker
The Irishman

Finally, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, the ninth movie of Quentin Tarantino. It’s quite a special movie but what else can we expect from Tarantino. I think that both Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt are fit to act in a movie like this and that they are both worthy of an Oscar nomination, maybe even winning one. And of course Margot Robbie… She’s not only a great actress but she is also a gorgeous woman. Actually, we all went to see Birds of Prey, the new Harley Quinn movie where Margot Robbie stars in.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Who do you think is going to win an Oscar? I’m guessing Joker, The Irishman, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and 1917. Oh and maybe Lion King for the special effects.
