Learn how to make a Creative Stop Motion video using simple tools and Adobe Premiere Pro. Inspired by VFX artist Cache Bunny.

For this video we got inspired by cache_bunny  I follow her already for a while and absolutely love her work.

We decided to use a Greenscreen disk just like her but wanted to do Stop Motion to make the different pieces move in and out of the camera. But let me tell you, I gained a whole new level of respect for Stop Motion artists.

First of all I underestimated the amount of time it would take. To make it as smooth as possible you need to take little steps between each frames. For this we just moved everything a millimeter at a time! We didnt really measure everything but used the old “Seems like a milimeter to me” method. Which brings me to the second point. MEASURE AND PREPARE EVERY MOVE BEFORE YOU START! Calculate upfront when a certain move should start and how long it should take to stop, etc… We didnt because our animation was fairly simple and wasn’t going to be long but I still recommand it. Again the more accurate it is the smoother it will look.

I would honestly never be able to become a Stop Motion artist. We only needed to move 3 thing each frame but if you look at movies like Isle of dogs and how much different things move between frames, it puts our video to shame. As you can see in this example you not only have the movement of the dogs but also all the hairs that blows in the wind. I don’t even want to know how long they spent on each frame ?

I Truly believe Stop Motion artist are the most patient people in the world.
