Stop time and run as fast as Quicksilver from X-Men in this Adobe Premiere Pro tutorial. Learn how to float objects and move them by hand using simple video techniques.

Hello you guys, it’s another Copy Cat Friday. And today we are doing another requested video. We love it when you send in requests and hate it when we have to choose which one. Because we want to make them all for you. But this week we recreated a famous scene from an older X-men movie. In X-men: Days of Future Past, you have a scene where Quicksilver helps Professor X and Magneto escape a hail of bullets. Everything in this scene time goes into super slow motion and eventually freezes. For this video we recreated the slow motion effect and of course we did it in a simplified version.

In the original version they used a mix of practical effect and visual effects. At first we thought that all the water in the scene was computer made. But after seeing the behind the scenes, they actually used real water and flying cooking pans. Then rigged it all and filmed everything with a high speed camera. The only thing they then did was slow everything down in post production and voila, you have a slow motion scene. But of course for a Hollywood blockbuster this wasn’t enough. When everything eventually freezes, Quicksilver starts running and does this over the wall. Here you can see water and object being pushed away by him. This is all computer generated of course. This is also why we made a simplified version of the scene. We don’t have a high speed camera nor the skills and time for making 3D objects and water. And you know us, we like to keep it simple.
