We’re super excited here in Belgium as not only the Spring has begun, but it’s always beautiful weather. So in this Cop Cat episode we left our dark studio en went to my home to film a very interesting visual effect in our driveway.

The video effect comes from the music video ‘Come’ by Jain. If you’re into video editing and simple effects, it’s definitely a music video you should see. Besides the zipper effect, there’re tons of more in that music video. It’s even a style from the artist that you see in her other music videos as well.

One of the questions we often get is: ‘how do you guys always figure out how an effect was made’. That is because honestly, it’s not always that hard. The majority of the editing effects are created with masks, double frames or green-keys. When practicing a lot with these three techniques, you’ll find out how something was made more easily.

What we usually do is download the music video in which we see a nice effect, and then play it back frame by frame in Adobe Premiere Pro. In almost every video we watch we can see the mask, which always confirms that we got it right ?
