See how I color grade in Adobe Premiere Pro CC. In this tutorial video I’m sharing tips and tricks for a better color grading workflow in Premiere Pro featuring the Loupedeck+.
Guys we are closing in on the 1 million subscribers and that is all because of you! You keep supporting us and that’s all we need to create tutorials for u every week. And this week’s Creative Tuesday is a tutorial about our own workflow. Specifically about color-grading and how we do this on every project. We are going to explain some tips we use ourselves.
And one of those tips, is gear. We all three use the Loupedeck +, which is a handy color-grading panel. It was originally created for Lightroom, but recently they updated it so now it also works with Premiere Pro. Personally I found it really useful as you can program different shortkeys to the tabs. And believe me this really speeds up your workflow. I even recommended it to a friend of mine, who is active as a professional cameraman and editor.
Another thing I really need to mention about color-grading is take your time for it. I probably told you all this a few times. But I find color-grading one of the most important aspects of film making. I hate it to watch a video with a ugly color-grading. Like Jordy says in the video, color-grading helps you to tell a story. It creates a mood and helps you to set a feeling. Combine this with beautiful shots and you can create masterpieces.
Also really important to know is that color-grading starts in the camera. Something you really need to pay attention to is you white balance. I admit that forget this more then I should. But I’m working on it and so should you. Adjust you white balance to the light in you shots and this will make you color grading a little bit easier. Another thing you can do in camera is to shoot in flat or Log. The newer cameras often have the ability to film in Log and if they have this option, definitely do it.
